Katsitsionni is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and filmmaker whose work is deeply rooted in Haudenosaunee culture and contemporary Indigenous experience. She holds an Associate in Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM (1989), a BA in Studio Arts from SUNY Potsdam (1995), and an MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College at Norwich University in Montpelier, VT (2000).
Her pottery is held in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, the Memorial Art Gallery, the Rochester Museum of Science, the Adirondack Experience, The Wild Center, and the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum.
For over two decades, Katsitsionni’s work has been exhibited across Turtle Island. She is a leading voice in the revitalization of traditional Haudenosaunee pottery, a cultural practice that had been dormant for generations. Each vessel she creates is formed with deep intention, guided by ancestral knowledge and a living connection to all beings—including the clay, which she regards as a gift from Mother Earth.
Her recent work blends traditional Haudenosaunee pottery techniques with contemporary themes and mixed media elements, bridging past and present while affirming cultural resilience, identity, and continuance.
